Shannon (Walker) Orosco began dancing at the age of five, as a student of Jackie Ramon at The Academy of Dance Arts and Music in Greenville, Texas. There, she was a student in all techniques and a member of the Northeast Texas Dance Company, a competitive dance program throughout her childhood. In high school Shannon participated in a teacher training program and began teaching at her home studio.
After high school, she attended The University of Texas at Austin to study dance. There she continued her focus in pedagogy and in 2003 she began teaching at Dancers Workshop. In 2006 Shannon graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance from UT and continued teaching and choreographing. Dawn Weiss (owner of Dancers Workshop) became a mentor and Shannon began working on the business side of the studio as well.
During her time at Dancers Workshop Shannon was the Children’s Curriculum Developer, Choreographer for Vision Competition Dance Company and eventually was named Studio Director when Dawn stepped away from the day-to-day at the studio.
Today, Shannon teaches 1 class a week, subs when she can, but her focus is continuing Dawn’s vision… building a studio environment where children can come and fall in love with dance and the arts.
Shannon lives with her husband Henry, and her two dancing daughters Evelyn and Violet.
